About

The Economic Development Council of Maine is committed to promoting an exchange of ideas practices and ethics in the field of economic development, and to providing a program of continuing information and education for its membership.

The Organization

The Economic Development Council of Maine was founded in 1956 as the Industrial Development Council of Maine. A statewide organization, it was incorporated in 1990 as a non-profit association and is governed by adopted by-laws. A board of directors is elected annually by membership.

Networking and Advocacy

Program meetings on various economic development topics including the annual legislative update, an annual summer seminar, and other networking and training related events provide a variety of opportunities to meet and interact with individuals involved in economic development throughout the state. If the need arises, EDCM can assist in legislative monitoring and testimony on state and federal legislation impacting economic development, as well as issue membership legislation positions and provide testimony to the State of Maine Legislature upon request.
